#ResonateAdvent -- Week 5: Christ Has Come!

Welcome to the final week of the interactive online experience #ResonateAdvent! At the start of each week, from November 27 through December 25, 2016, we will announce a new verse and theme of meditation, along with a weekly devotional. We will then invite the community to respond to each week's theme through art, music, and creativity. Join us for this beautiful time of togetherness and celebration, as we reflect on the gift of Christ's birth!

Week 5 Theme: Christ Has Come!
Week 5 Verse:
Luke 2:15-20

"When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.”

In honor of Christmas, we are providing the "Monday Meditation" a day early!

Christmas Meditation: Christ Has Come!

Today is the day. We get to celebrate and remember the moment that hope, peace, and love from heaven met on earth in the form of Jesus Christ. We have spent Advent processing and leaning into the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love through creativity along the way. How do we go forward from here? Let’s look to Luke’s story of the nativity to see how those first witnesses of Jesus--the shepherds--responded.

"So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. The shepherds did not sit on the news."

They went back to their daily lives and told everyone what they had heard and seen. Let’s follow their lead. As we go forward into a new year, continue to create and share expressions of hope, peace, joy and love, shaping a community of disciples along the way.
